Syllabub recipe (with CBD)

Syllabub is a delicious and creamy dessert that has been famous for centuries. Early versions resembled ice-cream floats, where a rich, sweetened, and delicately flavored cream rested on a refreshing alcoholic drink. The syllabub spent centuries as a beverage before landing in the desert territory. The syllabub was traditionally flavored with spices, herbs, and fruits. It was served in a special glass adorned with a little spout, enabling guests to sip the drink from below while delicately spooning off the indulgent topping. Later, it was discovered that minimizing the quantity of wine and spirits allowed the cream to hold its shape once whipped and stay fresh for several days. Syllabubs of this style was known as everlasting syllabubs.

A syllabub is another perfect make-ahead dessert since the flavors only improve with time. Served with a sprig of rosemary and some crisp sponge fingers, it's a very elegant finish to a meal. The integration of CBD in food recipes is even more, and the overall effect is just heavenly. Don't worry; by the time you read the last sentence, you'll be familiar with CBD if you've heard it the first time.

What is CBD?

CBD has been on the market for several years; it’s gaining popularity as a food additive for those searching to get more out of their food, drinks, or baked goods. Adding CBD to your food can give you the benefit of getting your daily CBD dose. Some users suggest that adding CBD to a recipe can improve the taste and texture of baked goods. One of the favorite ways to enjoy CBD in food is through desserts like in this recipe. This recipe uses CBD oil tinctures because it is not baking or cooking, in which case one would use CBD-infused butter. That's because tinctures can lose their potency in high temperatures. Standish (2016) recommended using CBD infusions such as CBD butter as an alternative to tinctures to get the most optimal potency.

CBD is short for cannabidiol and is a chemical compound extracted from the cannabis plant. Thanks to the legalization of cannabidiol because edibles now have a new meaning. CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it won't get you high. Rather, users may feel relaxed and experience other benefits like reduced inflammation and anxiety. Scott & Shannon (2019) showed that it's great as a sleep aid since it relaxes the central nervous system instead of triggering a high. Esther & Marmar (2015) showed it has the potential to help fight anxiety. That’s why CBD is an ingredient supplement in most treats and delights today, as it also soothes while alleviating pains and regulating mood. Boyaji & Urman (2020) showed evidence of CBD as a potential treatment for pain management. Therefore, it's irresistible to avoid CBD in recipes, which is a precious ingredient in our recipe.

In most western countries, syllabub is often served as a topping for trifle (a parfait cake, whipped cream, and other ingredients) or Pavlova. One can also serve it with fresh berries, toasted pound cake, lemon curd, or grilled stone fruit.

Making syllabub is as easy as making whipped cream since whipped cream is all syllabub is. Syllabub is a popular British dessert dating back centuries and is whipped cream gussied up with a little sugar, citrus, wine, and liquor. It tastes like a simple mousse or light, soft ice cream. It's great for summer, and no oven is required. Even more desirable is its simplicity and affordability. All you require is heavy cream and a little pour from the liquor cabinet. What might make it just quite expensive is CBD oil. The good thing is that you add CBD oil drops into your syllabus using a dropper, so it mess-free.

Additionally, high-quality oils (tinctures) are the most convenient and safest to get CBD into your daily regimen. You're likely to get all the benefits of CBD in this recipe since it doesn't involve any heat. High temperatures are most likely to reduce the potency of your CBD. Therefore, this simple recipe allows you to enjoy a whipped cream combined with the therapeutic effects of cannabidiol. We recommend starting with a low dosage in your recipe and working your way up to a level you're comfortable with. However, you need not worry about psychoactive effects, but we can't guarantee that you'll pass a drug test. Enjoy your syllabus.
