Castor oil is the cold-pressed product of the hardy Castor Bean plant.  A native of tropical East Africa, the medicinal beans from this desert shrub have been found within the innermost chambers of Egyptian tombs dating back to 4000 B.C.  Exceedingly rich in         plant-based fatty acids, Castor oil has been traditionally used in holistic medicine for centuries as a soothing emollient, treating everything from dry skin to dermatitis.

Beeswax is the nutrient-rich material both created and used by young worker bees to construct the six-sided cells that make up honeycombs.  These industrious bees must consume six to eight pounds of honey just to produce one pound of Beeswax!  A natural protectant, Beeswax provides a soothing barrier against the elements while directly providing concentrated nutrients to the skin.

The protective and emollient properties of Shea Butter have been appreciated for centuries by West African natives seeking refuge from the harsh desert sun.  The Shea Tree, which grows wild in the African Savannah, produces oil-rich Shea nuts from which Shea Butter is extracted.  Capable of moisturizing skin subjected to the African desert heat, Shea Butter is an indispensable tool in fighting off sun damage in our own, less extreme climes.

Originally from China and Northern India, jasmine is an evergreen, fragile, climbing shrub with green leaves and small white star-shaped flowers, which are picked at night, when the aroma is most intense. The oil is produced from jasmine blossoms. Jasmine is extremely rich in esters, which can make up 70% of the oil. Esters are the most relaxing chemical “family” found in essential oils. Aromatherapists use Jasmine oils for their calming effects. Jasmine’s softening effect on the skin makes it a valuable essential oil for both face and body.

A Perfect Skin Softener.

Neroli oil (orange) is said to originate from the Italian princess, Anne-Marie de la Tremoille, Countess of Nerola. This essential oil is also known as “orange blossom”, produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, loaded with vitamins and minerals. A member of the citrus family, it also contains generous amounts of vitamin C. Neroli improves elasticity, helps softening wrinkles and smells absolutely divine. The perfect skin care oil! Good for aging, wrinkled, dry, or sensitive skin. It works wonders on the skin by restoring the glow and charm.

Once known as the “plant of immortality” in Ancient Egypt, depictions of Aloe leaves have been found in carvings dating back to 6000 BC.  Today, those same leaves are treasured by modern peoples the world over as a rich source of natural gel and latex, having both soothing and healing properties.  Aloe lends its beneficial properties to a variety of skin ailments, both mild and severe, while providing the skin with a cool layer of protection from the elements.

The Argan Tree, native to Morocco, is an extremely hardy desert plant whose dense fruits contain the kernels from which its precious oils are extracted.  Rich in fatty acids and other natural compounds, it is known as a powerful natural skin medicine and cosmetic in its native Morocco. Argan oil has been a staple in the maintenance and nourishment of healthy skin amidst harsh conditions for centuries.
