Does pure CBD oil contain any THC?

CBD Oil

CBD products are still gaining fame, even after being linked with various risks. Most research done on CBD products shows that they have health and wellness benefits. CBD products are manufactured from an organic hemp plant which has various chemical elements. The elements are terpenes, flavonoid, cannabidiol (CBD), and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Unlike other elements, THC has toxic effects, which are likely to get users ``high.” CBD products are manufactured in three types; full spectrum, broad spectrum and isolate. However, does isolate CBD, also known as pure CBD contain THC?

How to Extract Isolate or Pure CBD From THC?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in the cannabis plant. It is mainly extracted from hemp plants organically grown in the USA states like Colorado, Kentucky, and Vermont. CBD is extracted using various methods such as CO2 and solvent for industrial production of CBD. In CO2 extraction, the supercritical method is regarded as the best. The extraction takes place in three chambers. The supercritical CO2 is pumped into a chamber containing dry hemp plant materials extracting a crude CBD because impurities like wax and fats are extracted. The mixture is heated to turn CO2 into gas. The crude undergoes distillation to remove the impurities due to differences in boiling points.

The solvent extraction uses alcohol; butane and ethanol are commonly used. The ethanol is pumped into a chamber containing dry hemp plant materials to extract CBD. After extraction, the alcohol and CBD mixture is heated up to remove the alcohol. One can use olive oil as a solvent to extract CBD at home. CBD extracted by solvent extraction does not need further processing. Also, the alcohol extracts chlorophyll from the plant materials that give the CBD a bitter taste. There are three types of bases to make CBD oil from, full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and isolate CBD. The full-spectrum CBD has all the hemp plant terpenes, including the 0.3% delta 9 THC, the broad-spectrum has all the terpenes except the 0.3% delta 9 THC. After processing, the CBD undergoes further refining to remove all terpenes and traces of 0.3% delta 9 THC to isolate CBD. The isolate CBD is mixed with a carrier oil like MCT oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, or olive oil to make pure CBD oil. Sometimes a pure CBD oil may have more than one carrier oil.

Does Pure CBD Oil Make You High?

CBD is extracted from a hemp plant which naturally has a very low amount of delta 9 THC; this is the compound in the cannabis plant that induces a high feeling. It is commonly found in marijuana. Taking Pure CBD oil will not give you a high effect because of the low amount of delta 9 THC. The isolate CBD has been refined after processing to make it free of any impurity.

Uses of Pure CBD Oil

Pure CBD oil relieves pain and inflammation for health and general wellness. The CBD affects the ECS receptors like CB1 by reducing the breakdown of transmitters and reducing the speed of nerve signals transmitted between nerve cells. CBD oil can be used on all types of pain, including nerve and back pain. Lee, Jonathan LC, et al (2017) suggests that CBD affects serotonin levels. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter responsible for bodily functions like mood or appetite. High serotonin results in a good mood, thus low anxiety or depression. The research also shows that CBD works as an antidepressant, which also regulates serotonin levels. People with withdrawal symptoms like anxiety can also benefit from CBD oil because such symptoms result from low serotonin.

Possible Side Effects of CBD Oil With THC

Even though CBD does not have fatal side effects, it still has some minor side effects like nausea, which triggers vomiting. This can be caused by too much CBD oil or being sensitive to CBD oil. However, it can be avoided using small amounts of CBD pure oil first, then increasing the dosage later when fully comfortable with the CBD oil. Dry mouth or cottonmouth is another side effect that might be due to the brain sending nerve signals to the epithelial to produce less saliva. CBD activates CB1 and CB2 and blocks the secretion of saliva in the mouth. This can be revived by staying hydrated. CBD oil mixed with melatonin helps in sleep. However, it may lead to unwanted drowsiness, especially during the day when doing an engaging activity like driving.

How to TakePure CBD Oil

There are four ways to take CBD oil. First, add it in your favorite meal or beverages, which helps you avoid the awful taste of CBD. Also, you can use it sublingually by putting a few drops under your tongue and holding it for 60 seconds before swallowing. Besides, you can use it topically by mixing it in topical products or applying it directly on your skin. Lastly, you choose to use it in baking.

Conclusion

Pure CBD oil is made from the most refined CBD, which means that it does not have any impurities, including the 0.3% Delta 9 THC that gives a high effect. So when you want to use CBD oil, you can go for Pure CBD oil because you won't worry about failing a drug test. However, it might not be a guarantee that you will avoid taking THC completely while using isolate products. THC, being the second most dominant element of the hemp plant, it might be difficult to extract it fully, even with the use of CO2.
