Does CBD oil give you energy

CBD Oil

Many people are incorporating CBD oil into their lifestyle for different reasons. Consumers ad manufacturers claim that this cannabinoid can manage conditions such as pain, depression, anxiety, illnesses, focus, memory, cognition, and recovery. Currently, there is insufficient scientific evidence to credit CBD oil for energy and related benefits. However, some studies suggest that CBD oil improves other factors that indirectly boost energy, as highlighted in this article. CBD oil is not recommended for treating or curing energy-related problems, especially because the FDA has not approved the cannabinoid.

Understanding CBD Oil

CBD is one of the many active compounds in cannabis plants. Although CBD oil can be extracted from marijuana or hemp plants, the Farm Bill deems hemp-derived CBD oil with less than 0.3% THC legal. Most brands use hemp to manufacture their CBD oil products because marijuana has a higher TCH concentration. CBD oil products include gummies, mints, capsules, softgels, tinctures, vapes, pre-rolled hemp buds, topicals, and pet items. Besides, there are three different formulations of CBD oil defined by composition as follows;

Full-spectrum CBD Oil

Contains terpenes, flavonoids, and multiple cannabinoids such as CBD, CBT, CBN, CBG, and the psychoactive THC, linked to a full entourage effect.

Broad-spectrum CBD Oil

This formulation is more like full-range CBD oil in composition, only that it lacks the psychoactive THC.

Isolate-based CBD oil

This CBD oil lacks terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids. It only contains CBD and is considered a pure formulation.

Most novices and people who find the earthy taste of CBD oil unbearable focus on isolates since they are flavorless and odorless. However, full and broad-spectrum CBD oils are many people's choice for their full entourage effect, and the latter is ideal if you want to avoid the psychoactive THC for its ‘stoned’ or ‘high’ effect.

Can CBD Oil Give You Energy?

A person may lack energy for many reasons, including chronic conditions & pain, diet, not getting enough sleep, daytime sleepiness, and stress. A study by Moltke & Hindocha, (2021) suggests that CBD oil could manage these conditions and help a person regain energy. Still, there is not enough evidence to prove that CBD oil affects energy.

CBD Oil Interacts with the Endocannabinoid System

Much is unknown about CBD oil, including how it works. However, the human body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) with enzymes, cannabinoids, and receptors (CB1 and CB2) that modulate functions throughout the body and may help with energy. The ECS influences critical functions and processes in the body, including perception, pain, digestion, immunity, sleep, temperature regulations, and satiety. According to Di Marzo & Piscitelli, (2015), the endocannabinoid system interacts with cannabinoids, and when one takes CBD oil, the cannabinoids bind on the receptors. This puts the receptors in a corrective mechanism, trying to put everything back to equilibrium. As such, the ECS-CBD oil interaction may give the body energy. However, there is a need for more studies that unearth the existence of such a system and its effects on energy.

CBD Oil for Pain Management

Pain is among the many factors that sap one of energy. Therefore, anything that can reduce pain may result in energy gain. There are limited CBD studies on pain management. However, one study by Vučković, Srebro, & Vujović et al. (2018) analyzing CBD studies from 1975 through 2018 concluded that CBD oil could help with different forms of pain, including neuropathic, cancer, and fibromyalgia pains. The study suggests that CBD relieves chronic pain, contributing to energy gain. Nonetheless, the review does not show that CBD oil could directly give one energy.

CBD Oil for Improved Sleep

Sleep is a provision that allows the body to relax and prepare to get back on the toes when you wake up. People with insomnia and poor sleep quality generally feel tired since they do not give the system enough time to rejuvenate. Could CBD oil improve one’s sleep and give him energy? One study by Shannon, Lewis, & Lee et al. (2019) with 72 subjects observed that 25 mg CBD oil capsules helped 66.9% of the participants get better sleep, while 79.2% reported reduced anxiety. The study suggests that CBD oil could boost one's sleep and reduce anxiety, realistically giving him energy. However, this study involved a small population that cannot make accurate scientific assumptions.

Should You Take CBD Oil for Energy?

Current studies do not offer enough evidence to scientifically ascertain that CBD oil might help with energy shortage. Also, the FDA has not approved CBD oil for energy, meaning there is no recommended dosage for CBD oil. Many knowledge gaps surround CBD studies, and there is a plethora of information about CBD oil that is unknown. All these show that taking CBD oil for whichever reason is a risky approach.

Conclusion

There is not enough evidence to credit CBD oil for giving a person energy. Although initial research shows that CBD oil may reduce anxiety and pain and better a person's sleep, it is unknown to what extent this is possible and whether these effects lead to energy gain. If you incorporate CBD oil into your lifestyle, you should consult a doctor beforehand.
